“Michael was an amazing guide - so knowledgeable. Walk was beautiful. Lovely lunch was included with an amazing view followed by a visit to an archaeological site. Would highly recommend although probably better at the start of the season when the waterfall is a bit fuller!”

“This was an incredible excursion - we enjoyed every minute. My 10 year old son , who can be difficult to please, described it as his favourite day of our 7 night stay in Crete. The tour guide, Michael, is extremely passionate and knowledgeable of the local area. We were picked up directly from our hotel and we felt well looked after from start to finish. The Richter Waterfall is a beautiful spot - we swam in the fresh water pool which was enjoyable and refreshing. We were driven around the mountains and shown incredible views over Crete, which we wont forget in a hurry. The local Cretan food was…”

3.Snorkeling Trip to Kourtaliotiko Gorge Waterfalls, Plakias, Crete

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 64 reviews · 4 hours (approx.) · from $109

Travel from Plakias to Kourtaliotiko Gorge, hike down roughly 300 steps, then follow a spring-fed stream in a wetsuit to a natural lagoon and cave waterfall. Guides such as Jelle, Kilian, Tom, and Paul have led the outing. Expect rock scrambling, upstream swimming, cold water, fruit, and a demanding climb back up.

“The waterfalls were breathtaking. It was a very strenuous hike down and back from the falls, carrying a heavy ruck sack with gear for 2 people. The activity also included climbing up and down rocks in the gorge. It was a cool trip and the guides were wonderful! I just wish we spent more time at the waterfalls and that I knew the hike down and back would take the majority of the time.”

Walk through hip-deep spring water, snorkel beneath waterfalls, and warm up with fresh fruit. Guides including Rutger, Kilian, and Stefan have led outings, with photos available for €20 per group.

“Best time ever! An experience unlike any other while in Crete. The whole dive team were professional, kind and had a great sense of humor, especially (on our tour) Rutger, Kilian and Stefan! The wetsuits are a Game Changer!!! While we saw a few other visitors to the waterfalls brave the 16 degree (C) waters, they literally were shivering so badly they could only tolerate 2-3 minutes at Best then had to retreat back to land, whereas our tour with the wetsuits swam for over 30 minutes directly into and under the waterfall, jumped off the surrounding cliffs, floated in the clear blue waters, spotting rare eels...all while our guides…”
